Edison Teenager Amber Lin Named Queen of Bridge
The Award Presented by American Contract Bridge League Goes to Top Youth Player
EDISON, N.J. (Sept. 8, 2015) – Amber Lin of Edison, N.J., has been named this year’s Queen of Bridge, the highest honor a youth player can receive from the American Contract Bridge League, the sanctioning body for the game of bridge.
Lin, 18, is an accomplished bridge player who has won multiple tournaments at a young age, including the 2012 Youth North American Bridge Championships. She also represented the United States in 2013 in the World Youth Open Bridge Championships in Atlanta. Her success has generated headlines in The New York Times.
The award recognizes not only great play but also a commitment to serving the community and promoting the game of bridge. During Lin’s sophomore year at John P. Stevens High School, she founded the high school’s first bridge club.

“It’s amazing to see how much Amber has accomplished at such a young age,” said Robert Hartman, ACBL’s CEO. “It’s important for young people like her to get the word out in their communities about the game of bridge.”
During her sophomore year of high school, Lin completed the Teacher Accreditation Program training course to become a certified bridge teacher. She is the bridge teacher at Huaxie Edison Chinese School in East Brunswick, N.J.

“For three years now, every Sunday afternoon teaching bridge has been the highlight of my week,” Lin said. “As I finish up high school and look forward to starting my freshman year at Princeton University, I hope to continue teaching the kids at my Chinese school every week and spend more time working on my own bridge skills.”
As a part of the award, she has received a $1,000 scholarship to attend Princeton University.
