Art After Hours: First Wednesdays

Art after Hours gives Rutgers University students and community members the opportunity to engage in a multifaceted approach to the arts.

The Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University is very pleased to present a screening of the 2009 film Perestroika, which will be followed by a Q&A with director Slava Tsukerman. Perestroika is being shown in conjunction with the exhibition Cast Me Not Away: Soviet Photography in the 1980s from the Norton and Nancy Dodge Collection. A tour with Dr. Julia Tulovsky, Associate Curator for Russian and Soviet Nonconformist Art, begins in the lobby at 5:30 p.m., followed by a reception in the Lower Dodge Gallery from 6 to 6:30 p.m. The film begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Max Multipurpose Room. Your students also are invited to participate in a coffeehouse-style student poetry reading with an open mic, hosted by the Zimmerli Student Advisory Board, in the Lower Dodge Gallery from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Interested participants can email ZimmerliStudentBoard@gmail.com to sign up; amateurs and professionals are welcome.

The Museum Store will feature 20% off all purchases, as well as a free gift (while supplies last) for visitors to the shop. Café Z will remain open until 9 p.m. with sandwiches and snacks available.
