Nationally-acclaimed storyteller, author, and educator Laura Simms conducts the Zimmerli's sixth annual Celebration of Storytelling on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 13 and 14, from 10 to 11 a.m. Her performance focuses on the themes Friends and The Gift of Dreams. An associate of the International Institute for Peace (under the auspices of UNESCO) at Rutgers in Newark, Simms has developed a Peace Education Curriculum. She also has received the Sesame Street Sunny Days Award and is a three-time artist-in-residence at the Lincoln Center Institute. She currently works for Mercy Corps, training teachers to work with young children in post-earthquake Haiti. Celebration of Storytelling is open to preschool age classes, as well as individuals (appropriate for ages 3 to 5 years old), but seating is limited and reservations are required by calling 732.932.7237, ext. 640. Children who are not part of a school group must be accompanied by an adult.
