Christ Church Parish Choir Spring Concert

The Christ Church Parish Choir will present its annual spring choral concert on May 20 at 4 p.m.

The program, titled “God Is Gone Up,” will feature Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cantata no. 147, “Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben,” which is the source of the beloved chorus, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.”

Also featured will be works celebrating Ascensiontide by composers Byrd, Croft, Giffen, Mealor, Philips, and Sheridan; African-American Spirituals arranged by Martin, Morris, Hancock and Halloran; and Randall Thompson’s Alleluia.

The chorus will be joined by orchestra and soloists Shannon Caldwell, Giulia Utz, Timothy Smith and Nicholas Hay, and guest organist Mark Trautman.

Tickets are available in advance at the Christ Church office or at the door for a suggested donation of $15.  Christ Church is handicap-accessible. Call the church at 732-545-6262 for more information.
