On April 29, the New Brunswick Interfaith Coexistence Project will be present a celebration of Earth Day at Second Reformed Church, 100 College Ave., from noon to 4 p.m. This event will take place rain or shine. Sponsors are the Rutgers Federal Credit Union and New Brunswick Tomorrow.
The theme for the day is “Creation, Animals, and Noah’s Ark,” to raise awareness about the plight of the many stray animals in our midst, the overcrowding of our animal shelters, and the humane need to control the animal population with neutering and disease prevention.
The event will begin with a free barbecue lunch at noon, including kosher and vegetarian options. There will be a short interfaith service at 1:30 p.m., beginning with a performance by the Rainbow Children’s Choir, directed by Ben Berman.
From 1-4 p.m. there will be demonstrations by the following groups: Sayreville Pet Adoption, Happy Paws, Sammy’s Hope, Farr Veterinary Clinic (rabies shots will be available for cats and dogs for $5), New Brunswick Animal Control, and the New Brunswick K-9 unit.
This event is free and open to the public. You are requested to bring donations of paper goods and beverages. For further information, please contact Rev. Douglas Shepler at Second Reformed Church, 732-439-3668 or srcnb_pastor@verizon.net.
