Safe Kids Middlesex County and the Level I Trauma Center at RWJUH Sponsor April 18 Youth Sports Safety Clinic

Parents, athletes, coaches and recreation staff are invited to a sports safety clinic being held on Wednesday, April 18, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at South Brunswick High School.

More than five million kids under the age of 18 suffer a sports related injury each year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The most common types of sport-related injuries in children are sprains (mostly ankle), muscle strains, bone or growth plate injuries, repetitive motion injuries and heat-related illness. The rate and severity of sports-related injury increases with a child’s age, and up to 50 percent of injuries seen in pediatric sports medicine are related to overuse.
