Celebration of George Washington's feu de joie military salute to the 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence and the June 1778 American Army victory at the Battle of Monmouth. City Historian George Dawson will explain the significance of the feu de joie ("fire of joy") maneuver, which took place on July 4, 1778 on the banks of the Raritan River. Attendees should bring lawn chairs to the event, which will take place near Buccleuch Mansion.
