Gloria Steinem To Speak At Rutgers Sept. 21

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Iconic American intellectual and leader of the feminist movement Gloria Steinem is scheduled to speak at Rutgers University in New Brunswick next Friday, Sept. 21.
Steinem will be speaking at 2 p.m. at the Rutgers main campus in New Brunswick. The event is open to the public and you have to register in advance to attend. However, if you cannot make it, Rutgers is also broadcasting the lecture live on Livestream here.
Steinem will be speaking as Rutgers unveils its inaugural Gloria Steinman Chair in Media, Culture and Feminist Studies. Feminist intellectual Naomi Klein has been named as the first to hold the position; she was just approved by the Rutgers Board of Governors this past Wednesday, Sept. 12. Klein will be paid to teach at Rutgers for the next three years.

Rutgers students will have the opportunity to take classes with Klein and she will also conduct research and organize public events on the Rutgers campus.
The $3 million Gloria Steinman Chair in Media, Culture and Feminist Studies was funded by more than 400 donors, including Harvey Weinstein, NJ.com has previously reported. He donated $100,000 towards it; Rutgers already said this past April they will not be returning the money.
