GreenDrop Charitable Donations Opens in Metuchen
GreenDrop celebrated Metuchen location with an official ribbon cutting ceremony
On Thursday, November 12, GreenDrop, the organization revolutionizing the way consumers donate lightly used clothing, electronics, and household goods celebrated the grand opening of their donation center in the Borough of Metuchen by hosting a formal ribbon cutting ceremony at 359 Amboy Avenue.
With the new GreenDrop, Metuchen residents simply gather their unwanted goods and pull up to the clean, brightly lit, and safe donation center where they are greeted by an attendant who will unload their donations and provide a tax-deductible receipt. Once collected, donors choose which GreenDrop partner charity they would like to direct their giving to: the Military Order of the Purple Heart or the National Federation of the Blind.
“GreenDrop’s mission is to help each community that houses one of its charitable donation centers reduce trash in landfills, and allow them to give back to the deserving charities that have done so much for our neighbors and fellow community members” said Tony Peressini, GreenDrop CAO. “By transforming abandoned sites, GreenDrop partners with communities to clean former eyesores, and eliminate the negative outcomes associated with questionable donation bins.”

The Metuchen ribbon ceremony featured remarks from Joeseph Ruffalo, President of the National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey, and Metuchen Borough Representative and Development Commission Head, Joann Falkenstein who commented on the organization’s positive impact on the community.
The new Metuchen charitable donation center solidifies the state’s commitment to recycling. This year, Middlesex County was honored as New Jersey’s top recycler having recycled 65 percent of the county’s total generated waste.

“Your commitment to creating a greener and healthier environment is inspiring, and we hope to enhance the borough’s recycling efforts through donations of gently used clothing and household goods,” noted Samantha Kresz, Community Marketing Coordinator for GreenDrop.
To date, GreenDrop has over 25 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Operating hours for the Metuchen GreenDrop are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 8 PM, Saturday 8 AM to 6 PM and Sunday, 10 AM to 6 PM.
