Wilber Hernandez worked as a nurse at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, one of the largest and most respected in the state.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — The State Board of Nursing announced Thursday it temporarily suspended the license of a registered male nurse who is charged with several counts of sexual assault against two female patients at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he worked.
Wilber Hernandez, 29, lives in Perth Amboy but worked as a registered nurse at Robert Wood Johnson, which is one of the largest and most respected hospitals in New Jersey. Prosecutors say he sexually touched two patients, a 49-year-old woman on October 13, 2016 and a 74-year-old woman on June 29 of this year. The second incident allegedly happened while the woman was in the hospital's ER waiting room, prosecutors say.
Hernandez was arrested by the New Brunswick Police Department and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office on July 13 and charged with forced sex assault, two counts of criminal sexual contact and one count of lewdness observed by others.

While the outcome of his charges is still being determined, Hernandez signed an interim consent order to voluntary surrender his nursing license on July 18.
“The integrity of the nursing profession must not be compromised by those that are trusted with the care of vulnerable patients,” said Steve Lee, Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs. “Those who commit crimes of physical or sexual abuse must be removed promptly from the nursing profession.”

Hernandez previously worked as a registered nurse at Jersey City Medical Hospital, Hackensack Regional Medical Center and St. Josephs Regional Medical Center in Paterson.
