More Break-Ins Reported At Rutgers Athletic Performance Center
Another break-in happened this week at the Rutgers Athletic Performance Center, and in cars parked in the Livingston parking deck nearby:
PISCATAWAY, NJ — Break-ins continue to happen at the Rutgers Athletic Performance Center in Piscataway, and in cars parked in the Livingston parking deck nearby.
Rutgers Police announced this week on their Facebook page that one single male suspect broke inside and caused vandalism in the performance center — which is located right next to the Jersey Mike's Arena — on either Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, Dec. 5 and 6. He also broke into a car parked in the Livingston Parking Deck and broke into the Livingston Dining Commons, where police say he caused more vandalism.
This comes after two offices in the performance center were broken into during Thanksgiving week. In both those cases, the offices had been left unlocked as Rutgers employees left campus for the Thanksgiving holiday.

In those incidents, someone stole an employee's car keys she had left in her office, and then stole her 2016 Jeep Cherokee she had parked nearby in the Livingston parking deck. No arrests were ever made in those break-ins.
The athletic performance center is located right next to the Jersey Mike's Arena (the Rutgers Athletics Center), and that is where Rutgers operates its sports medicine and other programs.

Now this week, police say one single suspect got into the performance center through an unlocked door and caused unspecified damage in the building. The vandalism was discovered at 12:46 a.m. Wednesday. Police say the same suspect then broke into a Rutgers student's car parked in the Livingston parking deck. He stole items of value from the car. The same suspect also caused damage to a second car parked in the Livingston parking deck.
Then, the same suspect broke into the Livingston Dining Commons (85 Ave. E, Piscataway) at 4:08 a.m. Wednesday, caused damage inside and stealing more items of value.
Evidence collected by Rutgers Police indicate all the incidents were the actions of an individual perpetrator, said police. A description of the suspect is limited at this time. Rutgers University Police Department asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact the RUPD’s Detective Bureau at 848-932-8025.
