NBPA is Bringing Digital Permitting to the Residents of New Brunswick!

The NBPA is switching the residential permits of New Brunswick to a digital system. You will not get any more decals or hangtags.

The New Brunswick Parking Authority is excited to bring the innovative technology of digital permits in a partnership with PayLock to the City of New Brunswick for their residential parking program.

This digital permit program enables patrons to park their vehicle without the requirement to have a permit be visible in the vehicle at all times while being parked. Instead, the license plate on the vehicle instantly becomes an identifier of an active permit upon approval of their online application.

The Digital Permit system provides a number of distinct advantages over traditional permitting including:

  • A 24/7 staffed Help Center that enables motorists to receive assistance with their permits easily and conveniently at any time, day or night, thereby averting the need to make a trip to the New Brunswick Parking Authority.
  • Digital permits technology allows motorists to add and remove visitors from their account using the Digital permits website on their home computer or cell phone.
  • As a permit holder, you no longer to worry about misplacing or losing your permit.
  • Email notifications are sent for permit expiration reminders, confirmations and important program updates.
  • Environmentally friendly! No more permits being thrown away upon renewal.

How do digital permits work?

The Digital Permit program replaces a policy requiring a physical permit to be displayed in a vehicle. Instead, the permit holder will now register their license plate number through the Digital Permits website. The website allows residents to apply for their permit online, upload documents for application approval, receive an email when their permit is approved and manage their permits. Permit holders eligible for a Visitor permit will be able to add up to two vehicles to the permit (per property) and change the vehicles when needed. A NBPA employee will scan the wards using license plate recognition (LPR) technology to determine if vehicles parked within the ward have a valid permit.
