New Brunswick Man Indicted On Murder Charge In Connection With Death Of College Student
A New Brunswick man is accused of fatally beating a Kean University student who was killed in New Brunswick, authorities said.

A New Brunswick man has been indicted on a murder charge in connection with the fatal beating of a Kean University student who was killed in New Brunswick, authorities said.
William R. McCaw, 22, of Gallatin, Tenn. was killed in the city on February 15, 2014. He was a former Rutgers student who was attending Kean University. McCaw was found in the backyard of Hartwell Street home and pronounced dead at the scene, the victim of blunt force trauma, authorities said.

A grand jury handed up a five-count indictment, charging Timothy Puskas, 39, with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and two counts of hindering his apprehension or prosecution.
Puskas was charged on March 25, 2014, following an intensive investigation led by New Brunswick Detective Ronoldy Martinez and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Sgt. Michael Daniewicz.

The investigators determined McCaw previously attended Rutgers and sometimes returned to New Brunswick to visit friends. He had no known connection to the residents of the Hartwell Street home where his body was found.
Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Sheree Pitchford presented the case to the grand jury.
Members of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, the Rutgers University Police Department, and the Woodbridge Police Department assisted in the investigation.
