New Brunswick Police Department to Host Free "Senior Police Academy"

Six day workshop will cover basics of police work, including fingerprinting, a tour of police headquarters, and mock crime scenes.

The New Brunswick Police Department will host a “Senior Police Academy” in September, open to city senior citizens who wish to learn more about the city police force.

According to the New Brunswick Police, the Academy will run for six days - Sept. 19, Sept. 20, Sept. 30, Oct. 3, Oct. 4, and Oct. 13 -  from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day.

It will be held at the New Brunswick Senior Center, 81 Huntington St.

Police instructors will go over different topics of police work, during each session, including a tour of police headquarters, a demonstration of radar, mock crime scenes, a SWAT demonstration, fingerprinting and DWI information.

The Academy will end with a graduation ceremony and BBQ on October 13, sponsored by PBA Local 23.
