New Chief of Oncologic Quality at Rutgers Cancer Inst. and RWJUH

New Brunswick, N.J., August 27, 2020 –Further driving a focus on exceptional patient experience and superior service for cancer patients, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, have welcomed a new leader to its team of internationally recognized physicians, researchers and administrators.

Henry A. Pitt, MD, is the new Chief of Oncologic Quality, a role which provides leadership and oversight for the planning and execution of varied oncology quality improvement, performance excellence, patient safety, patient satisfaction, infection control, and outcomes reporting.

Dr. Pitt’s previous roles have included Chief Quality Officer for Temple University Health System; Associate Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs and Professor of Surgery at Temple University School of Medicine; and Chief Quality Officer at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.

He earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College and completed his residency training in general surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, MD, also serving as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy. His clinical background includes hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery and he has held many leadership positions in several national and international professional societies.
