Rutgers Student Attacked, Robbed Thursday Night: Police

The beating and attempted robbery happened behind the university greenhouses Thursday night.

New Brunswick, NJ - A Rutgers University student said he was hit and robbed while walking behind the university greenhouses Thursday night, according to Rutgers police.

The student said he was walking behind the greenhouse at about 7 p.m. when he encountered several men who demanded he give them his valuables. The victim refused to comply, and was struck and knocked to the ground. The perpetrators then fled in an unknown direction. The victim sustained minor injuries, and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. There were no weapons observed during the assault. Earlier this week, a Rutgers woman said strange men tried to force her into a car while she was walking alone in downtown New Brunswick.

The greenhouse is located off Dudley Road behind Lot 98A on the Cook Campus at Rutgers.
