Rutgers Suspended All 7 Students Arrested Thursday
Five of the seven are Rutgers football players; a total of 10 people are charged. Some face assault charges; others charged with robbery.

Rutgers has suspended all seven students arrested this week, including four facing assault and riot charges, and three charged in connection with a home invasion.
Those seven students were among the ten people charged Thursday.
In one case, authorities say six young men were involved in an unprovoked attack on a group of people on Delafield Street in the city in April. Four of the defendants are football players at the university and the other two are former students who also previously played on the football team.

One of those former students, along with four other people - including another university football player and two more students - were charged in connection with a home invasion.
The five football players were suspended from the team on Thursday; all seven students are now on interim suspension from the school, according to a statement from Rutgers.

“We have a speedy, but fair, review process that looks at the nature of actions taken by students that are illegal or that otherwise violate our code of student conduct. Our initial review indicates that, in these cases, the alleged behavior warrants an interim suspension until additional information becomes available,” Richard L. Edwards, chancellor of Rutgers University-New Brunswick.
The students may appeal the suspension.
Tejay Johnson, 23, a former Rutgers student from Egg Harbor, Ruhann Peele, 22, and Nadir Barnwell, 20, both of Piscataway; Rahzonn Gross, 20, of Franklin Park, and Delon Stephenson, 22, and his brother, Daryl Stephenson, 23, both of Sayreville were charged Thursday in connection with the assault on Delafield Street that left a 19-year-old student with a broken jaw, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Daryl Stephenson, a former Rutgers student, remained at large Thursday, authorities said.
Peele, Barnwell, Gross and Delon Stephenson are Rutgers football players, NJ.com said. Johnson and Daryl Stephenson are former football players, WNBC reported.
All six are charged with aggravated assault, riot, and conspiracy to commit a riot.
Johnson is also charged in connection with two home invasions in the city and a third at a dorm in Piscataway, authorities said.
He is the lone defendant in an April 26 home invasion case on Prosper Street in the city.
Johnson, Andre Boggs, 20, of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, and another student, Dylan Mastriana, 19, of Rio Grande, are charged with robbery, burglary while armed, and conspiracy to commit an armed robbery in connection with an April 27 case on Harwell Street in the city.
Boggs is also a football player, NJ.com reported.
Johnson and Boggs forced their way into a home, while Mastriana helped plan that hold-up, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
Johnson, Boggs, Mastriana, Jianan Chen, 19, of New Brunswick, and Kaylanna Ricks, 20, of Perth Amboy, were all charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and attempted burglary while armed in connection with a May 5 case on the Livingston campus.
Boggs and Johnson got into a dorm and unsuccessfully tried to force their way into a room, authorities said. Mastriana and Chen planned that robbery, and Ricks drove the getaway vehicle, authorities said.
Chen is also facing charges of possession of marijuana and a stun gun.
Authorities have said their investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the cases is asked to call Detective Drew Weiss of the New Brunswick Police Department at (732) 745-5217, or Detective Gregory Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-4054.
