Rutgers Wants To 'Stripe The Birthplace' For Saturday's Football Game Against Michigan

A twist on the popular "blackout" games, Rutgers wants to see stripes on Saturday

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ-- Rutgers annual "blackout" football game will come with a twist this year: school officials want to "Stripe The Birthplace" for this Saturday's game against Michigan.

Blackout football games are popular among students, who are encouraged to wear black Rutgers shirts instead of the usual red. In previous years, those sitting in non-student seating wore whatever they felt like, usually red.

This year, Rutgers is asking those in non-student seating to dress based on their section. Odd numbered sections are asked to wear black, and even numbered sections are asked to wear red, creating a striped effect within Highpoint Solutions Stadiums. The student section will be asked to all wear black, similar to other blackout games.
