RWJ University Hospital Named 4th Best In New Jersey

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital was just named this week as the fourth best hospital New Jersey, and the 20 best in the New York metropolitan area.

This is according to a ranking done by U.S. News & World Report. Here is their full list of the best hospitals in New Jersey:

• No. 2: Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack
• No. 3: Valley Hospital, Ridgewood
• No. 4: Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick
• No. 5: Overlook Medical Center, Summit
• No. 6 (tie): AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City
• No. 6 (tie): Cooper University Health Care, Camden
• No. 6 (tie): Englewood Health, Englewood
• No. 6 (tie): Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune
• No. 6 (tie): Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston
• No. 6 (tie): Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center, Plainsboro
• No. 6 (tie): Virtua Voorhees, Voorhees
• No. 13 (tie): Ocean University Medical Center, Brick
• No. 13 (tie): Jefferson Stratford Hospital, Stratford

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is owned by RWJBarnabas Health, which is currently in the midst of a big Central Jersey expansion:

It was just announced this week that RWJBarnabas Health is moving into the old Kmart site on Rt. 18 in East Brunswick. The former Rt. 18 Kmart will be home to multiple medical practices expected to open in 2023. Part of that space will be for Children’s Specialized Hospital, RWJ's children's hospital located at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Last week, RWJBarnabas just opened a brand-new, four-story outpost at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown. That site will offer children's healthcare, a breastfeeding center, women's health and OB/GYN ,the new home for Monmouth Medical Center's pioneering Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders Center (depression and anxiety before, during and after pregnancy) and even a demo kitchen promoting healthy eating from NJ rocker Jon Bon Jovi. Robert Wood earned especially high marks for cancer care.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is home to the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and will soon be home to the Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, New Jersey’s only freestanding cancer hospital, slated to open in 2024 in the heart of New Brunswick.

RWJUH also got high marks for gastroenterology and GI surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, kidney failure, lung cancer surgery and stroke.
