Rutgers Coach Vivian Stringer Brings Student Athletes to PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital
The student athletes assisted young patients with various types of therapy.
Student athletes from Rutgers University got a look into a different type of physical on Thursday.
At PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital, the women's basketball team players worked with patients at different therapy stations set up throughout the hospital, including physical and occupational therapies, making crafts and baking cookies in a kitchen at the hospital used for therapies.
They were led by their coach, Vivian Stringer, an acclaimed coach in the world of women's basketball, and honorary chair of the hospital's annual Walk N' Roll, slated for May 19 at Johnson Park in Piscataway.

Stringer's son also suffered traumatic brain injury in a car accident, recovering after months of rehabilitation, according to a release from the hospital.
Stringer praised the staff of the hospital, stating that the hospital provides extensive care and support for patients.
She said she was very proud of the players, several of which said they wanted to return to volunteer further.
"It has to be in your heart," she said.
The sixth annual Walk n' Roll to benefit PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital consists of 1, 2.5 and 5 mile paths for participants to either walk or roll.
The event is sponsored by Kohl's Cares.
A free carnival will be at the event for all participants to attend, incliding food, games and prizes, according to a release from the hospital.
The previous year's event raised $140,000 for the hospital, the release said. More than 2,000 participants are expected.
