Bergen Man Dies In Bicycle Crash: Police
Paul Bertinato was riding a tandem bicycle Sunday in Tenafly with someone else when they were thrown from the bicycle, police said.

A Bergen County man died after he was thrown from a bicycle and hit a utility pole Sunday afternoon, police said.
Tenafly Police officers responded to the East Clinton Avenue crash shortly after 12:30 p.m. and found Paul Bertinato of Dumont lying on the ground, unresponsive with head and facial injuries, said Capt. Michael deMoncada.
Police officers and family members who saw the crash began CPR until paramedics from Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and the borough's First Aid Squad arrived and took Bertinato to the hospital, deMoncada said in a news release.

The riders, who were both wearing helmets, were thrown from the bike; the second rider only suffered minor injuries, deMoncada said.
