Bergen Philharmonic Announces Young Artist Contest
The competition is for string musicians age 16 to 28
The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra based in Teaneck recently announced the Young Artist Competition for string musicians. The instruments include violin, viola, cello and bass and musicians age 16 to 28 are eligible.
Interested musicians need to complete an application available on the group's website along with a $50 application fee and two letters of recommendation.
Musicians need to submit a CD by April 22 for consideration in the preliminary round of the contest. Those selected to move on will compete in the "in-person" round on May 15.

"Contestants should be prepared to perform a concerto from the standard repertoire for the finals," according to the group's website. "The prepared finals performance version should be no longer than 15 minutes in duration."
The Orchestra said contestants must provide their own accompanist.

"In the event that more performers apply than can be accommodated, a waiting list will be established," according to the Bergen Philharmonic.
The winner of the competition will be featured at a concert in October or November of this year.
