Bergen Woman Hit, Dragged By Truck, Survives

BREAKING: The woman was crossing the street when a Ford F-150 struck and dragged her.

A woman suffered a bloody face after she was struck by a pickup truck and dragged 30 feet along a Bergenfield road Tuesday night, police said.

A police investigation revealed that Norman Hoyt Jr., 45, of Bergenfield, was traveling north on Rector Court and turned his 2009 Ford F-150 right onto New Bridge Road when the crash occurred, said Bergenfield Capt. Mustafa Rabboh.

Nea Vignoli, 65, of Cliffside Park, was dragged about 30 feet before Hoyt Jr. "felt resistance" and realized he may have struck "something," Rabboh said. Vignoli was attempting to cross New Bridge Road in an unmarked crosswalk when she was struck, police said.

After stopping, Hoyt noticed Vignoli and notified police at about 5:41 p.m., the captain said.

Vignoli suffered a bloody face, a gash on her left hand and complained of pain throughout her body, Rabboh said.

The Bergenfield Ambulance Corps took Vignoli to Hackensack University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, Rabboh said.

Hoyt was issued summonses for careless driving and failure to stop for a pedestrian in an unmarked crosswalk.
