The Seton Hall Pirates baseball team dropped their season opener to Penn State on Friday, 8-6, despite a valiant effort by NMHS alumni Will Walsh and his teammates.
The Pirates were down until Walsh got hit by a pitch and took first base. It was the fourth time he was hit during the game. Although the Pirates never led the game, Walsh taking first base began a rally that fell just short.
Walsh, a junior at Seton Hall, is an outfielder and bats lefty for the Pirates. In 2009 and 2010, he was a Big East Academic All-Star. In his 2009 season, he hit his first collegiate home run and brought in three runs. He was captain of the NMHS baseball team his senior year.
