Culture Spotlight- Latin America Au Pair

CULTURE SPOTLIGHT: LATIN AMERICA

Our pool of Latin American au pairs wishing to arrive in the U.S. is as robust as ever. January and February are popular times for au pairs to travel due to the university schedules of many of our candidates, particularly from Colombia and Brazil. Building relationships: Latins are fully invested in relationships, and are very quick to open up to others. They are fun-loving, playful, and generally happy people.

Communication style: When communicating, Latins tend to focus on the big picture—they aren't as bothered by little things, but they may avoid or have difficulty handling confrontation.

Structure: Latins tend to be more flexible with time and are not constantly in a rush. They like to take time to enjoy the smaller things in life, like having conversation after dinner or over a coffee. Likewise with rules, they may take some things more as a suggestion, rather than a steadfast rule.

Childcare: Many Latin Americans come from big families, and are accustomed to caring for their younger siblings, cousins, and extended family. Childcare often comes as second nature to them, because family is so important to their culture.Keep in mind that our au pairs from Latin America extend at much higher rates.
