Bergen Youth Orchestras To Perform “Concert 126”

With  Special Guest and BYO Alumnus Steven Behnke on Horn

Bergen Youth Orchestras (BYO), the oldest youth orchestra in northern New Jersey, will present “Concert 126,” its 126th performance, on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Emerson Junior/Senior High School auditorium. BYO will be featuring works of Mendelssohn, Mozart and Dvorak. The auditorium is located at 131 Main Street in Emerson and tickets are $10 per adult, $5 for students and seniors.

Conductor Eugene Minor will lead the BYO Symphony, a full symphony orchestra for advanced young musicians exploring standard to unusual symphonic works.  Some of the pieces that BYO will be performing will be Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 and Mendelssohn’s Ruy Blas Overture.  BYO alumnus and Ridgefield resident, Steven Behnke will also return as a guest artist on horn.

“We are thrilled to have Steven performing with us again,” said Mr. Minor. “We have selected specific and exciting pieces for Concert 126 that will showcase Steven’s masterful flair for the horn.”

A graduate of Manhattan School of Music, Steven Behnke has won several concerto competitions, has been featured on WQXR (105.9 FM), and has performed at such esteemed venues as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall in New York City. Mr. Behnke joined the Wholly Brass Quintet in 2008 and has completed several national tours with the group. In 2009, he founded the Patriot Brass Ensemble, a groundbreaking non-profit brass group that performs for veterans of the United States Military.
