Family Of College Student Killed By New Milford Driver To Receive $900K Settlement

NEW MILFORD, NJ — The family of a college student who was killed in a car crash last year near Fairleigh Dickinson University last year will receive a $900,000 settlement, according to multiple outlets citing the New Jersey Law Journal.
Weiqi Wang, 27, was a resident of China and temporarily resided in Teaneck when she was killed after Carlos A. Poole, 49, of New Milford hit Wang as she was in a crosswalk on River Road shortly before 7 a.m. said police Chief Robert A. Carney.
Carney said that "inattention was the main contributing factor" in the crash, Carney said.

Wang's family settled a claim with USAA, Poole's insurance provider, earlier this summer, the family's attorney, Christopher DiGiroloamo told the New Jersey Law Journal, NJ.com reported.

Poole was charged with careless driving, failure to yield to a pedestrian within a crosswalk and driving with an obstructed view.
