Get a Red Hair Extension to Help Sick Kids

The Best Little Hairhouse in Westwood is raising money for Project Ladybug through June 7

A Westwood salon is asking area residents to come in for a red hair extension to help seriously ill children and their families.

The  is selling the red hair extensions to benefit Project Ladybug's Lucky Locks program, which provides financial support to families of children being treated at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The Paterson hospital has the Ladybug Fund set up to assist families that need it during their children's treatment.

Best Little Hairhouse owner Peggie Burke said the salon has raised nearly $600 so far, but hopes to greatly increase that amount before the fund-raiser ends June 7.

Each hair extension costs $10 and since hair company SO.CAP.USA donated the hair and salon personnel donate their time to install it, 100 percent of the proceeds go to help children and their families.

This isn't the first time Best Little Hairhouse in Westwood has participated in a hair extension fund-raiser. In October, the salon did the Pink Hair for Hope campaign, which raised $4,500 for breast cancer research.

The hair extensions are applied quickly and painlessly. They can be cut so people with any hairstyle can get them. Since the extensions are made of real hair, they can be curled or straightened.

"Anybody can do it," Burke said.

Even children can get the extensions. A group of kindergarten girls on a Westwood Softball team went to the salon Saturday to participate in Project Ladybug as a group.

Best Little Hairhouse in Westwood is located at 234 Westwood Ave. No appointment is necessary to get the red hair extensions. Call 201-666-2284 for more information.
