Teaneck Au Pair Nominated For International Childcare Award
Milena Auvray is from Switzerland and works for a Teaneck family.

LOCAL CHILDCARE PROVIDER NOMINATED FOR INTERNATIONAL AU PAIR OF THE YEAR AWARD
Switzerland Au Pair Recognized for her Outstanding Commitment to Teaneck Family
Each year the International Au Pair Association, or IAPA, based in the Netherlands, asks families around the world who have an au pair living with them to consider nominating their child care provider for the International Au Pair of the Year Award. IAPA is looking for young care givers who are extraordinary, go above and beyond their duties, and who exemplify the best in child care providers. One local family felt that their au pair fit the bill. The Goro family of Teaneck has nominated their au pair, Milena Auvray from Switzerland for this prestigious international award. Auvray provides live-in childcare for the Goro’s 3 children, and her outstanding dedication and enthusiasm in caring for them led the Goros to nominate Auvray for “International Au Pair of the Year.”
Milena is living with the Goro family in Teaneck as part of the Cultural Care Au Pair intercultural exchange and childcare program. She cares for the family’s children, ages 2, 7 and 9 in exchange for the opportunity to live in the United States, take classes at an American college, and become part of a real American family.
“From the moment we read Milena’s au pair profile, we knew instinctively that she would be a wonderful fit for our family. Fortunately for us, she saw that too, and she has been with us for nearly two years, having extended her time with us for a second year (much to our happiness)!
As a full-time working mother, I often get the clichéd question, “how do you do it all”? My answer is simple: Milena. Her presence not only makes each and every day easier, she makes it BETTER. “said Leyna Goro.
“We know our children are in the most caring, trustworthy and creative hands when we leave each day. I need look no further than my older son’s high marks on a math test for which she helped him study, my daughter’s intricately braided hair and room full of fantastical projects, or my youngest saying a polite “excuse me” (as Milena taught him to), on his way to the adorable play house she crafted for him from a cardboard box. Throughout the day, Milena checks in with us, sharing cute stories and pictures, helping us to feel like we’re right there, even when we are not. “
The International Au Pair Association established the Au Pair of the Year Award to recognize the many great young women and men participating in the au pair program, a demanding cultural exchange and childcare experience. The winner of this year’s award was announced in February and will be honored at IAPA’s annual conference in March in Atlanta, Georgia.
“Milena has gone above and beyond to create a healthy and enriching environment for her host children, while also challenging herself to learn a new language and culture. She is a great role model for her host children and other young people in the community,” said Anetta S Matias, local childcare consultant for Cultural Care Au Pair. “Even though Milena made it to the first 25 finalists out of over 250 candidates, Milena’s commitment and dedication to her host family and community certainly makes her the ‘Au Pair of the Year’ in Teaneck.”
