Here's how you can find the Magical Quill, according to Pottermore:
We will be placing a clue on the Pottermore homepage to help you find The Magical Quill. There will be a new clue every day, and each clue will relate to a different book in the Harry Potter series. On Day 1 the clue will relate to HARRY POTTER and the Philosopher’s Stone, on Day 2 the clue will relate to HARRY POTTER and the Chamber of Secrets, and so forth. The clues will also vary in difficulty. On Days 1-3 the clues will be harder, and on Days 4-7 the clues will be easier.
To find The Magical Quill, you need to solve the clue and add the answer to the end of the web address: http://quill.pottermore.com. This will lead you to a website where The Magical Quill will be located while early access places are available.
Twitter was exploding with up to the minute updates on Pottermore, with @pottermore raking in more than 260,000 followers.
Rowling announced the website's launch in a YouTube video last month, and said the page will offer an "online reading experience unlike any other" that will partly be built by the reader. She said fans can "share, participate and rediscover" stories, and, for the first time, purchase e-books.
Much of the website's content, though, remains shrouded in mystery.
Still, we muggles can breathe easy, as we don't have to say goodbye to the boy who lived just yet.
Here was Day 1 (Sorcerer’s Stone):
“How many breeds of owls were offered on the Eeylops Owl Emporium sign, then multiply this number by 49.”
The answer: 245
Day 2 (Chamber of Secrets):
“What is the number of the chapter in which Professor McGonagall cancels the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff?
Multiply this number by 42.”
The answer: 588
Day 3 (Prisoner of Azkaban):
Take the number of points Gryffindor was leading Slytherins in the Qudditch match in Book 3, multiply that by 35.
Answer: 2100
This one was a little different in that after you entered http://quill.pottermore.com/2100, it took you to a Guardian article. On the right hand side was what LOOKED like an advertisement, but was really the gateway to the registration page. It was like a Flash game. You had to move your mouse from right to left quickly in order to levitate a feather, and if you levitated it all the way to the top, you got the link to register.
Tomorrow, August 3, the question will be about Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, to be posted 9 a.m.-1p.m. EST, 8 a.m. Keep refreshing www.pottermore.com for the clue!
