Events:

The mall heralds the return of the billion-dollar Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. For the launch ofOn Stranger Tides, the fourth entry in the series, Westfield Garden State Plaza has teamed up with the legendary Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and retail giant  to deliver an epic-scale mall takeover.

FIVE33 is bringing the Pirates world to life in the mall with an exclusive event that launched Saturday. Fans are invited to join the crew of Captain Jack Sparrow, stepping into an immersive ‘Pirates Takeover’ that uses digital and physical platforms to masterfully weave movie messaging through a retail environment.

Shoppers will get to discover a one-of-kind, giant ship in a bottle built for the mall, placed at the center of the food court.  Dramatically swaying on stormy seas within the bottle, the ship captured inside is the Queen Anne’s Revenge, captained in the movie by the most notorious pirate of all time—Blackbeard.

Hot Topic’s flagship East Coast store at the mall features exclusive in-store experiences, giving fans the chance to command the ship alongside a life-size Jack Sparrow, and see Penelope Cruz’s pirate attire as worn in the film. The in-store and in-mall activation is supported by exclusive content for Hot Topic’s 4 million HT+1 members.

This epic canvas will form the backdrop for Disney’s ‘Pirates Day’ presented by Hot Topic on Saturday, May 14, a mass gathering of fans and moviegoers that will grant the lucky few access to an exclusive early screening of the hotly anticipated new film.
