Man Charged With Burglarizing New Milford Businesses

Mark Todd, 43, was charged with burglary and theft after police said he broke into two River Road businesses Aug. 9.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — Police charged a man with burglary and theft following an investigation into two River Road burglaries earlier this month.

Mark Todd, 43, was charged with two counts of burglary and theft, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief, said Detective Sgt. Kevin Van Saders.

Two neighboring businesses were burglarized at about 2:20 a.m. Aug. 9; the stores were entered after their back doors were broken and money removed from the cash registers, Van Saders said.

New Milford detectives reviewed security camera footage and identified the suspect as Todd, Van Saders said.

Todd was arrested at his Hackensack home Wednesday with assistance of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, the detective said and was taken to the Bergen County Jail.

Further charges are pending against Todd with other jurisdictions.

Police departments from Rochelle Park, Maywood, Hasbrouck Heights and Teaneck assisted with the investigation.
