Man Charged In Bergen Stabbing Following Physical Altercation

Emmens Forges, 34, was charged with aggravated assault, police said.

A man was charged with aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing a Bergen County man following a physical altercation Saturday, police said.

A man was charged with aggravated assault after he stabbed a man and fled the scene Saturday night in Bergenfield, Capt. Mustafa Rabboh said.

Emmens Forges, 34, of Phillipsburg, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and tampering with evidence, said Rabboh.

Officers were dispatched to 202 Howard Drive on a report of a stabbing. They located a 36-year-old victim, who had been stabbed in his abdomen, Rabboh.

The victim told police he had been in a physical altercation with Forges, who fled the scene and threw the weapon away, police said.

Forges was identified after he returned to the scene a short time later and was arrested; he was transported to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and treated for injuries he sustained during the altercation, the captain said.

Forges was treated and transported to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of posting $50,000 bail with no 10 percent option, police said.
