New Milford Fire Department Helps Decontaminate Building Sunday
Chemicals that were left in an oven overheated and released vapors into the air, authorities said.
NEW MILFORD, N.J. — The fire department respond to a commercial building in Rockleigh Sunday when chemical vapors were released into the air there Sunday morning.
The department’s Hazardous Materials Team responded to the Volvo Drive business after a report of a haz-mat and fire there, fire authorities said.
Chemicals that had been left in an oven overheated created smoke and released vapors into the air, authorities said.

The on-site commander called for a haz-mat team due to not knowing the chemicals involved, the department said. The team set up a decontamination station to clean any exposed particles.
Personnel were on the scene for two hours before returning to New Milford.
