New Milford High School Knights in Review

There were some ups and downs, but New Milford High School experienced success this past week.

Thursday Feb. 3 through Thursday Feb. 10 provided some exciting games at New Milford High School. The boys basketball team went 2-2, while the girl’s team had a strong 3-1 record during the week. The indoor track and wrestling team had important events during the week as well. Check out how the Knights faired this week:

Boys Basketball

  • Feb. 3: The Knights picked up an important league win when they traveled to Waldwick. New Milford won by a score of 53-38 behind Dante Tobler’s 15 points and Jeremy Clarkes’s 12 points.
  • Feb 5: Despite Jeremy Clarke and Paul Victory’s 22 points apiece, the Knights fell to Bergen Tech 70-66 at home in a non-league game.
  • Feb. 7: New Milford improved to 6-12 on this night with a 75-57 league win at Saddle River Day School. A balanced attack was the key to this victory with Jeremy Clarke scoring 25 points, Dante Tobler tallying 13 points, Michael Hackett with 12 points, and Royce Rebustillo put up 15 points of his own.
  • Feb. 8: Jeremy Clarke, Paul Victory and Royce Rebustillo all scored in the double figures, but the Knights fell to Dwight-Englewood on the road by a score of 59-52.

Girls Basketball

  • Feb. 3: New Milford continues their successful season with a 49-31 win against Midland Park at home behind another impressive performance by Sam DeFreese.
  • Feb. 5: New Milford lost a non-league game at home against Pascack Hills by a score of 50-35.
  • Feb. 7: New Milford bounced back and got a big win at home against Saddle River Day School with a 49-33 win.
  • Feb. 8: New Milford improved to 14-4 after winning a close road game at Dwight-Englewood. The score of this game was 54-50.

Wrestling

  • Feb. 5: Up-and-coming wrestler Zachary Suarez won the freshman tournament held in Bergenfield.
  • Feb. 9: New Milford fell to Dumont.
  • Feb. 10: Zachary Suarez and Matt Bachmann enjoyed success against Waldwick. Bachmann, a junior pinned David Cathy at the 1:07 mark and New Milford left with a 43-29 win.

  • Feb. 10: The Ed Church Invitational took place at Fairleigh Dickinson University with 36 schools from all over New Jersey running. John Follety ran a 6.7 in the 55 meter which placed him in fourth place. Jada Toote finished third in the 400 meter.
