New Milford Schools Ready To Welcome Students Back

Three ring binders and sharpened pencils are pairing up as New Milford schools welcome students back for a new year.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — Books, pencils and fresh notebooks are nearly ready as New Milford students prepare to return to class Thursday for the 2026-27 school year.

The opening week will be a quick one. Students will follow shortened schedules Thursday and Friday before schools close Monday for Labor Day. Teachers and staff will report next Tuesday to prepare for the new year.

Freshmen can also get an early look at New Milford High School during an orientation program scheduled for this Thursday.

The district includes New Milford High School, David E. Owens Middle School, Berkley Street School and B.F. Gibbs Elementary School.

Families can review calendars and other back-to-school information on the district’s website before the opening bell rings. They may also want to double-check transportation arrangements, schedules and opening-day instructions before students leave home.
