New Milford Student Nominated For Presidential Award
President Lyndon B. Johnson established the Presidential Scholar Program to honor the nation's most distinguished high school seniors.
NEW MILFORD, N.J. — A New Milford student has been named a candidate for one of the most prestigious honors students can receive.
Robert A. Abrahams, a New Milford High School student, was named a candidate for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.
Up to 161 students from across the country are named presidential scholars annually.

President Lyndon B. Johnson established the program in 1964 to honor some of the country's "most distinguished graduating high school seniors." The program was extended in 1979 to recognize students in the visual, creative and performing arts and against in 2015 to honor students attending technical high schools.
