Nick Jonas to Star in 'Hairspray' Revival
18-year-old pop-rock vocalist tweets about his excitement over role

Superstar Nick Jonas, originally from Wyckoff, will perform in a three-day revival of Broadway’s award-winning musical “Hairspray” this summer to the delight of fans and Twitter followers.
Unfortunately for frenzied local fans who may have wanted to catch a glimpse of the 18-year-old pop-rock vocalist on a Broadway stage, the shows will be in Hollywood, Calif.
Still, Jonas is hoping some of his local fan club might make the trip. In announcing his “Hairspray” role on his Twitter page last week, Nick tweeted, “Hey everyone! I am so excited to play Link Larkin in Hairspray at the Hollywood Bowl in August. Who's gonna come?”
Jonas will perform in the Broadway reprise Aug. 5-7 alongside an all-star cast of “Hairspray” originals and musical newcomers, including Harvey Fierstein, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Drew Carey, John Stamos, Corbin Bleu, several “American Idol” alums and others.

Tony winner Jerry Mitchell, who choreographed the original production, will direct and choreograph the three-day Hollywood Bowl show in August.
Jonas, who was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at the age of 13 and has since become a national spokesman for the cause, became the first of the brothers to debut a solo album when he released “Who I Am” last year. The album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
