Teen Arts Festival Book to Feature Art Work of Borough Resident

Lauren Inzalaco, a New Milford teen, had her original artwork selected for the cover of the next Bergen County Teen Arts Festival program book.

She is a student at Bergen County Technical High School in Paramus where she is studying graphic arts.

Her design was among more than 450 examples of student work displayed in the visual arts show at this year’s festival held at Bergen Community College on May 20.

Cover design entries had to show all of the different genres of art represented at the festival including visual art, creative writing, theatre, dance, film and video, and instrumental and vocal music. They also had to be in black and white.

The Bergen County Teen Arts Festival is in its 36th year. Middle school and high school students spend the day with other artists at the festival from a variety of creative fields.

"Founded on the belief that art is an essential language that provides an indispensable means of self-expression, the Festival strives to engage each student at a deeper level of artistry and professionalism," according to a press release issues by Teen Arts. "This year’s Festival offered over 25 arts workshops to the more than 4,000 students representing 43 schools throughout Bergen County who were in attendance."

Inzalaco is enrolled in the visual and graphic design program at BCTHS/Paramus which, "prepares students for careers in advertising, comport art departments, publishing, and the printing industry, and through its partnership with Bergen Community College, allows students to earn up to nine credits toward an Associates Degree at BCC prior to graduation."

The school offers a full-time program of academic and technical educational opportunities for students with an Individualized Education Plan.
