Worshippers will be invited to write their expressions of gratitude on “paper leaves”

which can be read before being attached to a large wooden cross during the

service. Elder members of the church and community have been interviewed and

their photos and words will be shared in worship.

“As another bridge between the secular holiday where the pilgrims

gathered for a meal of thanksgiving and the religious worship of God, we will invite

all persons to the Lord’s Table for Holy Communion,” explained Rev. Elaine Wing,

pastor of the Dumont church.

More time has been given to special music rather than a full sermon.

Joseph Mohan, the church’s new musician and choir director has created an

original arrangement of hymns “For the Beauty of the Earth,” and “This is My

Father’s World,” along with popular contemporary Christian music.

Mohan, a graduate student at The Julliard School, is known internationally for

his re-imaginations of hymns and praise songs for piano solo and is currently at

work on a collection for publication. He studies with Seymour Lipkin and holds a

Teaching Fellow position in the Ear-Training division of The Juilliard School.

Calvary United Methodist Church is located at 185 W. Madison Avenue
