An AIT freshman has created a free-to-use tool to find teachers

Om Desai @ Team AIRO (freshman of AIT highschool, Union county, NJ) has created a free-to-use tool to find / search teachers

Om Desai (freshman of AIT highschool, Union county, NJ) has created a free-to-use tool to find / search teachers in and around the community: http://findmeteacher.com/

Om is a founder of Team AIRO, a group with the motto: Young Teachers Teach Younger Kids. He realized that established classes, and regular teachers can afford to buy advertisement in various printed and online magazines, while part-time / ad-hoc teachers would rely on social media platforms. For students & their parents it is difficult to search for such teachers, and for teachers it is difficult to increase their visibility.

This website allow teachers to create their profile and course offering, and allow students & parents to search for teachers based on subjects they offer. It is not limited to academic subjects (e.g. Mathematics) but also caters to any kind of teacher (e.g. Chess teacher or Swimming teacher).

It also allow students & parents to add a 'request' if they don't find the teacher on the website. Teachers can see the list of requests and can offer their course by adding it.

Om is planing to collaborate with his friends for future enhancements like adding teacher's rating, search based on surrounding area of the zip code etc, with the goal in mind to serve local communities.

How it works:

If you want to learn something (like computer programming, driving, math, swimming, etc.), or you want to join a service to learn something (like a daycare center, a robotics club, a private school, etc.), then this is where you can search for it. If you don’t find what you are looking for, just post a request so that teachers and service providers will know what you are looking for, and possibly plan to create something like that.

Course/Service Search:

To search, enter one or multiple words in the text box and click the search button. The website will show results for courses that pertain to keywords or locations specified. For example, if you want to find a driving teacher in Summit, just search “Driver Summit”.

Request:

If you don’t find the course/service you are looking for, just enter that course/service as a request. Teachers and service providers will know what you are looking for this way, and may consider creating that course/service. While creating a request, it is required that you enter your email address and create a new password, so that you can edit the request later, and so that teachers and service providers can email you looking for details.

Teacher/Provider:

If you are a teacher or service provider you can create an account with an email address and password. This lets you add postings for courses or services, which you can edit at any time. Remember that the keyword and town sections of your posting help people search for what they want.
