Berkeley Heights Police Blotter: Juveniles Taken Into Custody for School Break-In

Plate check also leads to arrest.

Here is the Berkeley Heights Police blotter through August 17, 2011.

On Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 6:32 pm, Ptl. Michael Gallaro arrested three 15 year old male juveniles, all from Berkeley Heights.  Ptl. Gallaro, Ptl. Nicholas Franks and Ptl. William Fettes responded to a burglar alarm at Columbia School. Upon their arrival, police headquarters advised officers that motion detectors had been activated throughout the school. Officers then found three bicycles at the rear of the building at which time the juveniles were seen inside the building.  One juvenile was taken into custody at the scene and the two others ran in a westerly direction, were caught and then taken into custody.  All three juveniles were brought to police headquarters, processed and released into the custody of their parents. The matter is under further investigation by the Juvenile officer.

On Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 8:25 am, Ptl. Andrew Glaydura arrested Bonnie Koellhoffer, 31, of Scotch Plains. Koellhoffer was the operator of a 2002 Honda that was stopped when a license plate check revealed that the vehicle’s registration was expired and that the registered owner of the vehicle had an expired license. Upon question, Koellhoffer provided Ptl. Glaydura a false name and date of birth at which time she was placed under arrest. Koellhoffer was brought to police headquarters, processed and charged with driving while suspended and obstruction. She was then released with a date to appear in court.
