BMS/Celgene Chinese American Network Donation Against Covid-19
Community effort to support doctors and hospitals fighting Covid-19 in the frontline. United we stand against COVID-19.
Berkeley Heights, NJ -- During this COVID-19 pandemic, the number of cases skyrocket closer and closer to home, there is a pressing shortage of medical personal protective equipment (PPE) in the United States. We learnt from social media that our frontline healthcare workers are in desperate need of protective gear. We saw the healthcare workers, and they ask for help as they don’t have masks to wear when they see patients. Even the top hospitals in New Jersey are running out of masks, N95 and surgical masks. Members in the BMS/Celgene Chinese American Network started to discuss whether we could do something about it. Everyone feels the strong need to help our own city and the home community. We are motivated to do whatever we can to support the medical system and our community to fight against the pandemic.
Organized and executed by Juan Shen, Yu Tian, and Liang Liu, a fund raiser was set up on March 26th, 2020. Via the Gofundme platform, account as a donation platform (https://www.gofundme.com/f/covid19-legacy-celgene-chinese-american) , within a week, $6071 was donated by the BMS/Celgene Chinese American employees. On April 5, these funds were successfully delivered to recipient hospitals listed below:
$1000 was donated to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

$1000 was donated to Hunterdon Medical Center.
$2000 was donated to JFK Medical Center.

$2071 was donated to University Hospital in Newark ($1000 for food supplement for the frontline staff, $1071 for PPE).
We hope our effort to help our frontline heroes and protect their safety from virus. We really appreciate the generosity and the support from our BMS/Celgene Chinese American Community. We thank many friends for providing very important information regarding donation and PPE supplies. Hope our country can overcome this virus soon.
