Photos: Pioneers Football Defeats Bound Brook, Wins ShopRite Cup Award

New Providence rolls past Crusaders, while Jack Harvey starts at QB for Pioneers.

Sophomore Quarterback Jack Harvey threw for 116 yards and 2 passing touchdowns on Saturday afternoon, leading the New Providence Varsity Football team to a 44-27 victory over Bound Brook. 

The Pioneers offense, led by Harvey, CJ Kliesch, Derek Singer, conbined rushed for more than 320 yards and four touchdowns against the Crusader's defense. 

During half time, Athletic Director Robert Harmer accepted the ShopRite Cup on behalf of New Providence High School.

This was the second consecutive year that New Providence won the championship.

To earn this award, schools must accumulate points based on their performance in championship play in 32 individual sports sanctioned by the NJSIAA. Fall, winter and spring sports are all included. Schools receive points for finishing first, second, third and fourth in group state championships.

, which was achieved through a 2011-2012 season 1st place in Girls' Soccer, a tie for 3rd in Football, 4th in Boys' Indoors Track & Field Relays, 1st in Boys' Tennis, plus nine points for having no disqualifications in all three seasons.
