School Supply Kits: Sheer Brilliance!

A mommy must have come up with this... Order everything on your school supply list in under five minutes from your couch. No kids, no cars, no crowds, less cash.

While my husband was taking apart our TV last night to replace the lamp, I sat down with the laptop to check out School Supply Kits at SchoolKidz online.

I had heard our PTA President mention these kits at my son's Kindergarten orientation last week.  As I listened, I kept elbowing my girlfriend sitting next to me.  "Did you hear that?  What a great idea!"

SchoolKidz, which became a business unit of Staples Company in 2007, has teamed up with local schools to fill the school supply needs list for each grade.  No more getting the list of supplies needed for 2nd grade and then shopping over the summer, with three kids in tow, as you get half the items from one store and half from the other because the first store ran out, while crashing into other frantic mothers trying to fight for the last black 1.5" three-ring binder on the shelf.

I just went to www.shopttkits.com and entered my son's school code found in the email sent out or on the order form that goes home (by the way, Salt Brook's code is 88861).  Then I just added one 2nd grade kit and one Kindergarten kit to my cart.  They even include freebies like personalized labels with your child's name on them so they can keep track of all the similar supplies.

In less than five minutes, I completed all of my school supply shopping for next year.  Everything is discounted at a bulk rate and shipping is free since it gets sent right to the school.  They even come in sturdy boxes that you can keep and reuse to store all of the kids' artwork that comes home.

At each screen that I clicked, I was just giddy with excitement. "Wow!  I can't believe this is so easy!" I shouted.  My husband thought I was referring to his handyman prowess behind the TV.  "Brilliance!  What a fantastic idea!"

"Why, thank you.  I told you I could fix this."

(silence, plus look of puzzlement on my face)

"Oh, you meant the school stuff, didn't you?"

I tend to get carried away by the little things.  But honestly, this is a fantastic idea that can save so much time, stress, and frustration.  Obviously, this was conjured up by one very smart mom.  I am so glad our PTA did this.  I highly recommend everyone take advantage and relax knowing that you can check off one more tedious task from your lists!
