Bramnick and Borough Council Commend Governor Livingston Varsity Baseball Team

Annual audit of Mountainside's financials results in no recommendations or corrections.

Assemblyman Jon Bramnick attended the July 19 Mountainside Borough Council meeting to honor the NJSIAA Group 2 State Championship Governor Livingston High School Varsity baseball team. Bramnick also honored head coach Chris Roof for leading the Governor Livingston Highlanders to victory.

The Mountainside Borough Council also awarded the Highlanders and Coach Chris Roof with Resolutions of Commendation. The Highlanders won their last nine games and brought Governor Livingston its second state championship for baseball.

“He really was a fantastic leader,” say Mayor Paul N. Mirabelli, of Roof. “You guys always found a way to come back and I know that’s a tribute to him.”

After his presentation, Bramnick took a moment to address the Borough Council on their ability to govern effectively.

“Mountainside has historically set an example of how to get it right,” said Bramnick of the Mountainside Borough Council, praising the ethics and hard work of its members. “The work you have done is superb.”

The Council approved resolutions adopting the Annual Audit for 2010 and the 2010 Audit Corrective Action Plan, a step usually enacted to employ any recommendations and corrections given to the borough through the audit. The 2010 audit did not result in any corrections and therefore the Action Plan does not contain any changes.

A resolution was passed allowing the borough to apply to the Union County Open Space, Recreation and Historical Preservation Trust Fund for the “Preserve Union County” grant for the Hetfield House. If the borough receives the grant, Mountainside will match the $6,500 grant for an electrical upgrade and new water heater.

The council also formally accepted the winning bids to purchase vehicles being sold by the borough. A 2000 International Truck was sold for $10,500 and a 1995 Dodge Pickup was sold for $550.

The council chose to extend its contract for snow removal with Robert LaFerrara Construction by one year. The contract is set to expire on July 31, 2011, but will be extended until July 31, 2012. The borough does maintain the option to extend the contract for one more additional year.

Finally, the Borough Council approved upon second reading an ordinance revising the fees for development applications to the Planning Board.
