The Mountainside PTA will be hosting a screening of the documentary Race To Nowhere-The Dark Side of America’s Achievement Culture on April 29 at 8:00 p.m. in the Deerfield School Gymnasium at 302 Central Avenue in Mountainside. This documentary features the heartbreaking stories of young people across the country that have been pushed to the brink, educators who are burned out and worried that students are not developing the skills they need, and parents who are trying to do what is best for their kids. It has inspired a grass roots sensation that is radically changing the national dialogue on education. Vicki Abeles, first-time filmmaker, was inspired to make Race to Nowhere out of concern for her children. Tens of Thousands of people across the country and overseas have seen it. Your neighbors, friends, and family have seen it, now you need to see it. Log on to www.racetonowhere.com/epostcard/4718 for details about our screening and to purchase tickets online. Tickets can be purchased electronically and are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Mountainside PTA will keep a portion of the ticket sales. This event is open to the public.
