GL Boys and Girls Fencers Sweep Past West Windsor

Pagano, Weng lead boys' team in Foil; Gonnelli wins her first varsity match as a freshman.

After a thrilling 14-13 victory over Watchung Hills this past weekend, the Gov. Livingston boys' fencing team added another feather in their cap with a 16-11 triumph over West Windsor-Plainsboro.

The GL boys are now 8-4 on the season, while WWPS falls to 1-3.

GL Saberists won 6-3 led by Aidan King 2-1 and Ryan Donohue who both won by scores of 2-1. The Foilists rolled by a score of 8-1, with Jordan Pagano and Eric Weng  winning by 3-0 scores. The Highlanders lost in Epee 7-2.

On the girls' side, the Lady Highlanders earned a 19-8 victory, clinching at 14-10 to improve to 12-0 on the season.

Saberists had the edge 5-4 with Lauren Wagner leading the way, while Foilists Aileen Trella and Taia Harrison helped the Foil squad to a 7-2 win. GL won at Epee 7-2 behind Colleen Reilly.

It was also a day to remember for freshman Epee fencer Lauren Gonnelli, who won her first varsity bout in her very first varsity start.
