Gov. Livingston Softball Headed to State Sectional Final

Sectional title game set for Friday.

Not to be outdone, the Gov. Livingston softball team joined the baseball team as winners in the state sectional semifinal.

The Lady Highlanders defeated Voorhees 5-2 to advance, thanks in big part to the clutch hitting of Alexa Katz, who delivered a two-run single in a five-run second inning. Katz finished 2-for-4 on the day.

GL, now 24-2, made the lead hold up behind the pitching of sophomore Jordan Robbins, who was steady as ever, giving up eight hits, walking none and striking out two, while the GL defense performed up to par.

The Highlanders, who captured the sectional crown last year with a victory over Raritan, pushed their winning streak to 17 games with yesterday's triumph.

Next up, the Highlanders will play host to Robbinsville this Friday with the Central Jersey, Group 2 title on the line.
