New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Mountainside Primary Day 2018

Tuesday, June 5 is primary day. Here's a list of who is running and where to vote in New Providence, Berkeley Heights and Mountainside.

NEW PROVIDENCE/BERKELEY HEIGHTS/MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ — On Tuesday, voters will be heading to the polls to cast their ballots in the primary election. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Locally, in New Providence there are no contested races. Republican Allen Morgan of 337 Livingston Ave. is the lone candidate running for the four-year Mayor seat.

The two three-year councilman seats are also being run uncontested with two Democrats and two Republicans running.

Democrats include: Rupa Kale of 143 Crane Cir. and John FX Keane of 54 Midvale Dr. Republicans include: Matthew E. Cumiskey of 238 Woodbine Cir. and Peter C. DeSarno of 1591 Springfield Ave.

In Berkeley Heights, the mayor race is contested with Democrat Angie Devanney of 59 Cornell Ave.; Republican Robert Woodruff of 56 Forest Ave. and Republican Edmund Tom Maciejewski of 40 Ralph Pl. all vying for the one four-year mayor seat.

As far as the township council, the democratic race is uncontested with Stephen H. Yellin of 130 Dogwood Ln. and Alvaro Medeiros of 21 Twin Falls Rd. both vying for the two three-year seats.

The Republicans township council race, on the other hand, is contested with five candidates running including: Michael D'Aquila of 85 Whitney Dr., Michelle Greco of 90 Greenbriar Dr., Christopher J. Rinaldi of 74 Cromwell Ct., Diana Mara of 328 Emerson Ln. and Dmitriy Agafonov of 25 Ford Pl.

In Mountainside, there is no contested races with one Democrat and two Republicans vying for the two three-year councilman seat.

Candidates include: Democrat Anjali Mehrotra of 215 Queens Ln.; Republican Robert W. Messler of 299 Garrett Rd. and Republican Wendy Fech-Caccamo of 336 Briar Patch.

On the county level, there is a contested race for Democrats with six running for the three three-year Board of Freeholder seats.

Democratic candidates include: Alexander Mirabella of 11 Tillotson Rd., Fanwood; Andrea F. Staten of 223 Victory St., Roselle; Kimberly Mouded, 490 Otisco Dr., Westfield; Alex Lospinoso of 119 Livingston Rd., Linden; Patrick Gargano of 500 Fairway Rd., Linden; and Kaiby Sandoval of 200 N. Park Ave., Linden.

There is no contested race for the Republicans with three running for the three seats. Candidates include: Patricia Quattrocchi of 233 Lexington Blvd., Apt 9, Clark; Joseph R. Sarno III of 658 Willow Ave., 1st Fl, Garwood; and Peter G. Kane of 3 Iris Rd., Summit.

On the congressional level there is a contested race for the 7th Congressional District seat.

The two-year term seat is currently held by Leonard Lance, who has held the seat since 2009. District 7 covers all of Hunterdon County, and parts of Essex, Morris, Somerset, Union, and Warren counties.

  • District 1, 3, 4, 5: Senior Center, 15 E. Fourth St.
  • District 2, 6, 7: Municipal Center, 360 Elkwood Ave.
  • District 8, 9, 10, 11: Firehouse, 175 Floral Ave.

Polling locations for Berkeley Heights are:

  • District 1: William Woodruff School, Briarwood Drive West
  • District 2, 3, 4, 10: Recreation Center, 29 Park Ave.
  • District 5, 6, 11: Berkeley Heights Fire House, 411 Hamilton Ave.
  • District 7: Volunteer Rescue Squad Building, 378 Snyder Ave.
  • District 8: Runnells Specialized Hospital of UC, 40 Watchung Way
  • District 9: Governor Livingston High Schoo, 175 Watchung Blvd.

Polling locations for Mountainside are:

  • District 1, 6: Municipal Building, 1385 Route 22, Conference Room, 1st Floor
  • District 2, 7, 8, 9: Deerfield School, 302 Central Ave. and School Dr., Multi-Pupose Room
  • District 3, 4, 5: Presbyterian Church, 1459 Deerpatch (and Meeting House Lane), Assembly Room
